鄭州機(jī)械研究所是我國齒輪傳動、機(jī)械強(qiáng)度與振動、新型釬焊材料和化學(xué)標(biāo)樣等行業(yè)的技術(shù)歸口單位，建有15個國家級和省部級科技創(chuàng)新平臺和行業(yè)服務(wù)平臺，承擔(dān)完成了許多國家重大工程、重大裝備的科研攻關(guān)任務(wù)，成功解決了三峽、葛洲壩、海洋工程等多項(xiàng)重大工程中的核心技術(shù)難題,研制填補(bǔ)國內(nèi)空白的首臺（套）新產(chǎn)品180余個，制修訂國家標(biāo)準(zhǔn)178項(xiàng)，獲得各種科技獎勵近1000項(xiàng)，其中獲得國家級和省部級獎勵220余項(xiàng)。
鄭州機(jī)械研究所由鄭州市內(nèi)的研發(fā)總部、高新區(qū)產(chǎn)業(yè)園區(qū)和龍湖產(chǎn)業(yè)園區(qū)組成，占地近300畝，科研生產(chǎn)建筑面積8萬平方米，擁有各種生產(chǎn)、檢測和試驗(yàn)設(shè)備儀器1000多臺套，建成了高參數(shù)齒輪箱、新型焊接材料與焊接工藝設(shè)備、精密鑄鍛件、機(jī)電一體化成套設(shè)備等產(chǎn)業(yè)基地，長期為國內(nèi)外客戶提供優(yōu)質(zhì)的產(chǎn)品和服務(wù)，竭誠滿足客戶通用化和個性化的需求。
鄭州機(jī)械研究所在人才培養(yǎng)方面具有獨(dú)特的優(yōu)勢，能夠招收培養(yǎng)“機(jī)械設(shè)計(jì)及理論”、“工程力學(xué)”兩個學(xué)科博士學(xué)位研究生，能夠招收培養(yǎng)“機(jī)械設(shè)計(jì)及理論”、“材料加工工程”、“工程力學(xué)”、“固體力學(xué)”4個學(xué)科碩士學(xué)位研究生。
